In the fall of 2004, we were so excited to find out that we had been selected by our birthmother to adopt her baby boy. The baby was due in February and so we had quite a few months to prepare for his arrival. We had such an amazing few months getting to know Logan's birthmother as we exchanged letters. We also had the privilege of meeting with not only her, but her family members as well. It was so great to see how much our families had in common and to discuss the hopes and desires our birthmother has for her son. We feel so blessed to have the honor of sharing with our son, the many wonderful people who love and care for him.
After months of anxiously awaiting the arrival of Logan, we received a call that he was finally here and baby and mom were doing great! At that moment, we were so thankful to our Father in Heaven for blessing them both during the delivery and that both baby and mom were doing well. Our prayers were answered two days later as we entered the LDS Family Services agency and our birthmother presented us with little sweet Logan. Many tears were shed from all who were present. Our hearts were broken as we thought of the tremendous sacrifice our birthmother was making because of the great love she had for her son. At the same time, we were in awe at the great trust she placed in us to raise and love this precious little spirit. Our birthmother had asked that Kerry give Logan a father's blessing while she was in attendance and during that time we were all overcome with such a sweet spirit and a true testimony of the beauty of adoption. As time drew to a close and we left our separate ways, we couldn't help but to embrace our birthmother and express our deep love for her and for the wonderful gift she had blessed us with. She will forever be a part of our lives and hold a special place in our hearts.
We know firsthand the wonderful blessings that come through adoption and are so excited to welcome another little miracle into our family and home.
